PicksLeague is an online service for hosting customized sports leagues (also known as office pools). We recognize that during season long leagues, especially football & basketball season, league administrators can spend up to 10 - 15 hours a week on league management (mostly data entry & scoring updates) while the league participants deal with delayed results & limited information into other people's picks. Our software drops the admin's time commitment to less than 1 hour a week (if any) while providing real time updates, scoring, standings, game scheduling & more - all tailored to meet the exact rules of your custom league!
Our goal is to eventually be able to host all of your leagues, regardless of what crazy rules you use. If you try to set up your league and don't see the options you need, we can work on that. Just contact us to let us know what rule set you're looking for.
You create your username during registration. By default, we fill in your username to be equal to the first part of your email address (before the '@' sign), but you are free to change it to whatever you want.
To change your username: Once you are logged in, you will be directed to your 'Dashboard' (or click 'Dashboard' on the top right of any page when you're logged in). Click on the 'edit your settings' link next to your current user name (under the 'Profile information' header). You can change your user name (along with email address and phone number, used for text message updates) under 'Edit User'. You will also have to enter your current password to confirm your changes, and click 'Update' to save.
Usernames are unique throughout PicksLeague.com. You can not create the same username as another account holder.
Once you are logged in, you will be directed to your 'Dashboard' (or click 'Dashboard' on the top right of any page when you're logged in). Click on the 'edit your settings' link next to your current user name (under the 'Profile information' header). Under the 'Change password' header, enter your desired new password and confirm it by entering it again. Lastly, enter your current password under 'Edit User' and click the 'Change password' button to save your changes.
Of course! Once you are logged in, you will be directed to your 'Dashboard'. (or click 'Dashboard' on the top right of any page when you're logged in). Click on the 'edit your settings' link next to your current user name (under the 'Profile information' header). Once re-directed, look for the “Edit notifications” section where you can update your email preferences.
To access your leagues, you first need to make sure you are signed in to your PicksLeague account. The easiest way to then navigate between your leagues is to use the “Pick Watch Win” links at the top of the website. Hovering over each of these words will bring up a list of all the leagues you are currently entered in. Pick - will take you to the pick sheet for whichever league you choose. Watch - will take you to the schedule of games for whichever league you choose. Win - will take you to the standings page for whichever league you choose. From any of these 3 pages, you will then be able to use the links at the top of the page and from within the schedule and standings pages to navigate deeper into the leagues, seeing team schedules, everyone else’s picks, the league home page, etc.
Once you are on a page dedicated to one of your leagues, you can navigate between that league's pages using the links
No spreads do not change once they have been released on the website. For football season, spreads are released and locked in Wednesdays at 9 AM ET. For basketball season, spreads are released and locked by 9 AM ET the day before the game is scheduled to be played.
For leagues picking against the spread, you are not allowed to make picks before the spreads are released, in order to keep you from making a misinformed decision.
We have a bunch of new features this year that take advantage of technologies that sometimes don't work well in older browsers, namely Internet Explorer (IE). If some things are showing up funny on your browser or just plain aren't working right, it's most likely because you're using Internet Explorer as your browser. Don't feel bad, we all used to use IE at one point or another, and in fact many of us are at work trying to do anything BUT work and because of that we don't have a choice but to use IE.
If you have control over your computer and what you can install, we highly recommend you take the 10 seconds to download a new, much faster browser. Our favorites are Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. This will not only make sure that PicksLeague works correctly for you, but will improve your entire internet browsing experience. You can thank us later.
First off, you must be signed in to create a league. Our "Create League" form is available in 3 places:
1. On the middle of our homepage
2. At the bottom of your user dashboard
3. On the Create a League page
On the "Create League" form, choose your 'league type', then choose your 'sport', name your league, and then click the "Create League" button to create your league.
Once you click this button your league will be created and you will be re-directed to the league settings page where you can continue to customize your league rules based on the league type and sport you chose. This is where our customization options really reveal themselves. Along the way we provide plenty of “?” buttons to clarify any rule definitions. You will answer all the questions about your league in 3 easy to follow sections, concluding with the 'Update League' button at the bottom of the page.
Also, in your email inbox, you should have a helpful email giving you all the information you need to get people signed up for your league. We find it's best just to forward this email on to the people you want to play in your league.
Right now, we offer 8 league types, with over 20,000 combined possible rule combinations. Our 8 league types are: Pick Em, Bankroll, Survivor, Confidence, Team Salary Cap, Squares, Brackets, and Roster Picks
We are continually adding new league types and sports. This is a never ending process to provide customized options that users actually want, so be sure to check back often to see the new offerings we have!
We recommend you first go through the process of creating a league to find out if you can truly customize your league out of all our available options. Go ahead and take a look, we really do have plenty of in-depth options.
If you find all your league settings are not available or just plain want some help, please feel free to shoot us an email to leaguesetup@picksleague.com, or use out contact form. One of our favorite things in the process of building our customized software is receiving unique requests from our customers and creating new options for them. Once we build an option for one person, everybody else can then use it as well. It's all a part of our quest to make sure you, our users, have everything you want!
Yes, anyone who is registered on our site can create a league. If your league has 10 or fewer entries, then it is completely free! So feel free to play around with all the different options we have available.
In order to edit a league's settings, you have to be signed in under the account that created the league (the league administrator's account). From any of your league's pages, click the "Edit League" link at the top of the page. You can also go to your user dashboard by clicking the "Dashboard" link at the top right of any page, and at the bottom under "Leagues You Administer" you can choose "Edit League" from the actions list next to the league you want to edit.
Yes, it is possible for you to change your league type and/or sports, but only before your league has started making picks. You can not change your league type or sport after you have starting making picks - your league will not function correctly if you do this.
A league admin (administrator) is the person who is in charge of setting up your league, communicating with your league, and resolving any rule issues that may arise amongst your players. At PicksLeague.com, the admin has complete control at all times to update the league rules, league home page, manually enter individuals picks, and go back & alter picks if that change needs to happen. Additionally, the admin is the only person responsible for paying our entry fees. A participant is never asked to pay, the admin will pay for all of the entries in the league at one time.
Only league administrators are able to change the league setup. On top of changing the rules, league admins can see every entrant's email address, make picks for every entry, add, edit, and delete entries, make picks past the pick deadline, and more. These options are not available for anyone except the administrator.
If a league is made private, only users who have one or more entries in your league will be able to access all of your league pages, and they must be logged into their account in order to access your league. Because your league’s home page will be protected from outside viewers, users will have to join private leagues using the form on our home page or the join league form here. Make sure all of your league players know your league ID # (will be included in your league creation email) and password, if applicable. It is possible to have a private league that doesn’t have a password, meaning users can join your league before the registration deadline by using your league ID number. It is also possible to have a password protected league that is not private, which means users will need a password to join your league but anybody can view your league pages without having joined your league or being signed into PicksLeague.
When you create your league, we send you an email that contains your League ID # and password that was set at the time your league was created (if you chose to have a password). Also, if you are able to get to any of your leagues pages, you can look at the web page address (URL) to find your league number - it is the number immediately after "/leagues/" in the URL.
Here’s the classic answer we all love to hate: It Depends! Most importantly though, if you have 10 or fewer entries, your league is completely free!
After that, it's dependent upon your league type and the number of entries. Our prices range from $0.50 to $4.00 per entry. More detailed pricing information is available here.
The administrator is 100% responsible for the league's entry fees. We DO NOT ask each individual user to pay their entry fee, but instead require the league admin to pay the entire balance. You can pay for you league at any time by clicking on "Make Payment" on your league home page. This button will appear under the "League Settings" section of your league home page, and will only show up for the administrator of the league and for leagues that owe a balance to PicksLeague.
If you paid for your league entries before the registration deadline, and more users have joined your league, then you are still responsible for paying for the remaining entry fees. Because of this, we advise you to hold off payments until you are sure every user has already joined your league.
There are many ways you can join a league.
Easy way: Ask the league administrator for the link to their league's home page. If you are signed in, it is as easy as clicking "Join League" at the top left of the league home page. If you are not signed in, you can fill out the "Join this league" form to join the league. This will sign you in to PicksLeague if you already have an account or create a new account if you don't have a PicksLeague account, and enter you into the league.
Harder way: In order to join a league the harder way, you must first sign up through the website. You will need to provide an email and create a password. A confirmation message will be sent to the email account you provide. Your account is now created. With your account created, you may either join existing leagues that are still accepting members or create a league of your own.
If you are trying to join a specific league with an administrator you know, ask the administrator for the "League ID #" and password (if your admin made the league password protected). From here, go to the "Join League" section on the homepage or on your dashboard, or just click click here. Enter the league ID # and password, then click join. You’re in!
If the administrator of your league has chosen to password protect the league, then that password will have to be entered every time someone is joining the league. Using a password is the easiest way to make sure only players people who were invited to join the league end up playing. All league players will use the same password to gain access to a password protected league, and they will need to get this password from the league administrator.
It depends! The administrator sets the maximum number of entries allowed per person. You can join the same league as many times as you want, up to the limit that has been set. If the league admin set your limit to 1 entry per person, then you can only join the league once for each PicksLeague account. If your admin set the league limit for up to 5 entries per person, then you can join the league up to 5 times.
Look under the "League Settings" section at the top right of your league's home page to see what the league limit for entries is set to.
There are two ways to check that you actually joined the league. The first way is through your dashboard. Look in the area titled "Entry dashboard". If you are registered, you will see your entry in that league, either on the "current" tab or the "upcoming tab"".
The second way is to check the league home page of the league you just joined. Below the "Join this league" title, you’ll find a section showing you how many entries you currently have in this league.
Navigate to the league homepage featuring that entry name. At the bottom of that page is the list of all the entries. Find yours, and then find the “actions” column. From here select the "edit entry"" option to update your entry name.
Participants are not directly required to pay entry fees. Only the league administrator, or person who created your league, is responsible for paying all of the entry fees after the league has started. It is up to your administrator on how he/she will gather entry fees from you.
